ABOUT

PRISCILLIA JORGE
Decorative Painter / Architect and Urban Designer

Priscillia Jorge is a State-certified and licensed architect, MA in social sciences, PhD in urban planning and design, and Painter in heritage decor. Native from Paris and based in Arles since 2019, but working throughout France and abroad, her practice combines technical expertise, craftmanship and creativity.

Experience

Priscillia has worked for several years in the field of  architectural and urban design and research, in Paris and Milan. This professional experience allows her to assist project owners, providing advice, management and project monitoring.

Her theoretical and practical experiments about the sensitive experience of space and spatial representations feed a design approach where aesthetics are combined with functionality, while respecting environmental and social issues; to create habitable spaces that evoke rich sensory experiences, tell stories and facilitate appropriation by users.

Through decorative painting, which she has been professionally practicing since 2021, she shapes space by modifying its perception, and paying particular attention to history but also to the place volumes, light, and atmosphere. Working as close as possible to the material, her achievements, whether in terms of creation or restoration/restitution, thus tend to sublimate architecture by combining heritage enhancement and contemporary vision.

Settled in Arles, she regularly works on different types of projects – permanent or temporary, indoor or facade –  in the South of France, but also throughout France and internationally.

Passionate about graphic and plastic arts, she explores, in parallel with these activities, varied fields and media realizing a wide range of creative projects.

Skills

Her acquisition of traditional techniques of decorative paintings and  coatings, which she constantly seeks to update and supplement, allows her not only to implement them in the creation of contemporary decors, but also in restoration/restitution projects on ancient wall and ceiling decorations. She also regularly collaborates with restorers, specialized craftsmen and artisans as well as with recognized workshops, qualified in the restoration of buildings and decorations classified or listed as Historical Monuments.

Co-founder of a group of decorative paintersfrom different backgrounds, Priscillia works with an ad hoc team if the project complexity and scope require it. This flexibility allows not only to combine each one's specific knowledge and skills but also to master the project temporalities, to adapt the response to each client specific needs, while ensuring the interventions quality , consistency and sustainability.

Commitment

Aware of the ecological impact of the building and painting sectors, due to the generalization of products from the petrochemical industry, Priscillia favors an eco-friendly approach.

She has thus chosen to prioritize, in all her projects, materials that respect the environment and the building integrity, as well as natural paints and solvent-free products, in order to preserve the users and craftmen's health.  To this purpose, she uses either ancient recipes to compose her own paints, varnishes or strippers, or innovative commercially available products,

She also regularly organises conferences or introductory workshops aimed at the revaluation and dissemination of this ancestral knowledge, largely forgotten and still unknown today.
